Welcome to Keewatin-Patricia District School Board’s 2023 Director of Education Annual Report. I’m Christy Radbourne, Director of Education, at KPDSB. As we bridge the transition from our current 2019-2024 Strategic Plan to our new 2024-2029 plan, we offer something new to represent the bold, innovative changes we are making to improve the education experience of every KPDSB student. Rather than read about our work, we invite you to listen to the voices of those that work to implement our strategic plan and the voices of those our work impacts, our students. We capture the stories of those we work with and those we serve to provide a glimpse of how we at KPDSB are putting our current plan to work and preparing for the next steps in our journey. Highlights of this year’s work include a wide variety of the teaching and learning opportunities at KP that are designed to ensure students can discover their own path and have the knowledge, skills and experiences to successfully pursue them. In this report, you will hear from caring, innovative educators who are creating engaging learning experiences in literacy, mathematics, skilled trades, and outdoor experiential learning. There are stories from education support workers that describe how they ensure exceptional students have rich and equitable educational experiences. Our facilities management team walks through our facilities restructuring plan, which will modernize our schools to ensure KPDSB students are learning in state of the art safe and supportive learning environments. Elders describe how they support cultural learning experiences and opportunities and language in schools for students and staff. And most importantly you will hear from our students and how our work impacts them every day. So we invite you share our journey through the voices of KPDSB. As we close out the work of our current plan, we lay the foundation for our new strategic path that will take us into our future. A future committed to opening new Pathways that ensure all KPDSB students are prepared to achieve their dreams.
