Our Facilities Team is pleased to introduce Christine, a dedicated college co-op student and graduate of Beaver Brae Secondary School in Kenora. She’s now pursuing her Architectural Technology – Advanced Diploma at Sheridan College. Christine has joined our team as a draftsperson, bringing valuable skills and fresh perspectives to the Kenora District Facilities portfolio.
Christine’s responsibilities encompass a broad range of architectural drafting and building information management tasks. She specializes in preparing building information models (BIM) using Autodesk Revit, ensuring that our facilities are represented accurately and efficiently for both current needs and future planning.
The Capital, Maintenance, and Operations Departments are directly supported by Christine’s expertise. She delivers precise As-Built drawings and regularly updates room numbering schemes. Her work ensures that building information is current, accessible, and reliable for departmental decision-making. By maintaining and organizing our drawing databases, information management is streamlined across KPDSB facilities, aiding both day-to-day operations and long-term strategic planning.
Christine’s proficiency with BIM in Autodesk Revit brings significant advantages to KPDSB. The models she creates allow for accurate material quantification, clear categorization of space and room use, and robust support for planning activities such as work loading, permit submissions, and renovation concepts. Her efforts also facilitate seamless coordination with municipalities and ministries, ensuring regulatory compliance and efficient project execution. Additionally, Christine is in the process of consolidating Matterport files to develop comprehensive walkthrough models for each facility. These digital walkthroughs provide staff and administrators with immersive, up-to-date visualizations, to help enhance collaboration, inspection, and orientation processes.
Christine’s contributions as a co-op draftsperson exemplify the value of investing in emerging talent from our own community. Her technical skills, attention to detail, and commitment to excellence support the operational, planning, and collaborative goals of KPDSB. We encourage all departments to leverage Christine’s expertise and connect with her for support on projects requiring architectural drafting, building information management, or facility walkthrough models. By working with Christine, we continue to strengthen our capacity for innovation and operational excellence across the board. We hope more future graduates of our schools can follow a similar path to Christine’s – using their skills to better our schools and communities.
