The Adult Education Secondary School, in partnership with Seven Generations Education Institute, had 576 students registered for the 2022-2023 school year, either working towards their Ontario Secondary School Diploma or taking upgrading courses. Site monitors in individual sites across Northwestern Ontario work complex roles providing service to students and organizations with program information, program outreach and promotion, as well as developing and maintaining partnerships with local community organizations. As the first point of contact for the Adult Education program, on a daily basis, the site monitors complete intake interviews and registration with students, all the while providing pathway guidance and ensuring that individual educational and workplace plans and goals are at the forefront of discussion. The site monitors throughout the year continuously manage student paths, discussing this information with students and ensuring that they are on the right track to meet their goals. Site monitors also planned and implemented the 2023 graduation ceremony and were excited to celebrate 44 graduates for the 2022-23 school year. Past and current students have shared that having the opportunity to continue their education in a flexible way to suit their lifestyle and circumstances has provided them the opportunity and support to build a better future for themselves and their families, as well as be a positive role for their children. Students have shared that their adult education experience has built their self-confidence and self-esteem, along with their time management and responsibility. Therefore, giving them the confidence to accomplish things that they never thought possible before. It is vital that adult Learners are given the opportunity, no matter how old or what stage in life they’re in, to learn to continue to grow and expand their possibilities, as it is never too late to learn.
